Start spreading the news,
I’m leaving Monday,
I want to be a part of it, New York, New York…
On Monday I’m leaving for 10 days to New York City, and wont be back to usual operating prodecures until Wednesday 12th.
I’m uber hyped up about going, and only today was the accommodation sorted… Last week we didn’t have any holiday plans whatsoever.
I’m taking my 50mm lens with me, so I hope to get some really good pics while in the city. Chinatown, Empire State Building, 5th Ave Apple Store (come on… I couldn’t resist!) are all the places I’m sure that I’ll go to. Apart from that, I’m still looking into…
We’re staying two nights in the “World’s Most Popular Hotel”, supposedly in the centre of the city. After that, we’re spending a week in Jamaica Bay (just east of Brooklyn) in a studio apartment. It’s not too far from the city centre, but enough that the hustle and bustle of the city won’t bother us.
The only thing that’s bothering me is that I thought that this might be a chance to get down to Minneapolis to see a dear friend - but this does not seem to be in my favour. I tried, but it’s too expensive to go by plane - nearly $1000 - and my parents wont let me go any other way. I’ll send something for her birthday anyway, although it may be a little late. It doesn’t matter, things will sort themselves out sooner or later.
Know anywhere I should go? Any warnings? Any tips?

Yes, it’s ironic - but the only job I’ve ever had, cleaning up after someone else, is truly rubbish.
It’s been three days, and only two days of the Royal Highland Show remains. The only thing I have learned from picking up litter, cleaning tables and wandering around the grounds is that smokers have the worst habit - and that this habit is the worst thing to ever contain.
I am pretty sure that I have already picked up more than an entire black bag full of cigarette butts, of which all have been left on the ground - instead of the rightful place in the bin. If there were two cigarettes to every person, and someone out and charging tickets to everyone who littered - the £50 fine - I’m pretty sure that at least £10,000 would have been charged to the public.
It’s a dirty habit, more than it seems at first. It ruins the body, and the world around them.
I finish on Monday, I think. However, I may have a couple of days extra to clean up - which would be a little extra money in the long run.
After that, it’s back to business - back to designing and photographing, and sleeping long hours and watching many, many hours of tv.

The treefest is a great little festival in Edinburgh which is a little hippy, but has loads of cool opportunities for photos as well as picking up some great information.
My favourite event was the rope making - for photography anyway.. It was an interesting feat.

My favourite of the weekend. Some chinese children where helping out with the rope building… It was kinda cool.

This is the guy.. His talk was the same as last year, but seemed to enjoy what he was doing.

I got some cycling stuff to.. Maps of all the cycling areas in Edinburgh and i’ve found it useful already. So many nooks and crannies that even the local doesn’t know about!
Until next time, later.

I have found something I have had all along, but it was left forgotten in the back garden shed for years, and years and years. It’s the one thing, that now I have grown up seems to be more appealing, and I’m using it more and more every day.
What is the magical object? A hulla hoop? No, my dear readers, I have found the wonders of cycling.
Edinburgh is such a difficult city to cycle in as travelling anywhere there is a hill - wether you like it or not, and way too often these hills are extremely steep. For a cyclist, you can imagine that is could be one of their worst nightmares.
The city council have done a lot, not to solve this problem, but to make it safer to cycle. They have increased the amount of cyclists on the road by double in recent years and also increased the visibility and awareness of cyclsts on the road by creating cycle lanes in high use areas. It’s great.
But the main reason for my use, it’s a way of exercise - of which I know I need much but however have been doing very little. It’s a great way to keep fit and a great way to travel. But last but not least - it’s a handy distraction, as I have many worries over some family members at this time.
Yesterday I bought some good stuff concerning cycle paths in Edinburgh, a great tool as I often get confused about certain paths in Edinburgh that I can take - and as the days get longer I have much more time on my hands, might as well use it productively!
Over and out.

I say I’ve been busy. I’ve not been, but it’s felt like it…
I woke up on Sunday at 11.30AM, and I knew that half an hour later I was supposed to be meeting some flickr photographers at the zoo at 12. Let’s just say, that by 12.32 I was out of the door and on the bus!
But I wasn’t well, and I felt it.
Nothing was good.

Nothing was that great.. I definitely wasn’t well.

This guy wasn’t either… See his tooth? Not so fab either.

And by the end of the day it began raining again… Damn Edinburgh weather.
Not well.
Also, it wasn’t good for other reasons. A lost lens cap and a broken lens. I’ve replaced the lens cap, but the lens is being a problem as it’s my favourite and the front bit for the filter is very loose, and superglue isn’t working right now.
I shall prevail.
Until then, later.
