The ‘Rubbish’ Job

Yes, it’s ironic - but the only job I’ve ever had, cleaning up after someone else, is truly rubbish.

It’s been three days, and only two days of the Royal Highland Show remains. The only thing I have learned from picking up litter, cleaning tables and wandering around the grounds is that smokers have the worst habit - and that this habit is the worst thing to ever contain.

I am pretty sure that I have already picked up more than an entire black bag full of cigarette butts, of which all have been left on the ground - instead of the rightful place in the bin.  If there were two cigarettes to every person, and someone out and charging tickets to everyone who littered - the £50 fine - I’m pretty sure that at least £10,000 would have been charged to the public.

It’s a dirty habit, more than it seems at first.  It ruins the body, and the world around them.

I finish on Monday, I think.  However, I may have a couple of days extra to clean up - which would be a little extra money in the long run.

After that, it’s back to business - back to designing and photographing, and sleeping long hours and watching many, many hours of tv.
