25 Random Things About Me

Monday, February 16th, 2009

First things first, let’s just let me tell you something. I was reading a paper today and what did I see? Yes, smart-ass, an article. This one however, was about this whole ‘25 random things’ meme that I, as being forced to by Corinne (I do it ‘cos I love her), am about to do. I typically don’t do much that’s actually publicised and hearing that Facebook’s Notes feature has been used twice as much this week than normal, as well as the fact that every single blog has gone a little over the top with this whole thing. Actually, Google Blog Search is counting about 40,000 posts outside of facebook, and the Sunday Times reported 20m posts in facebook this week. So, if you don’t want to read it… don’t. I’m sure you’re getting a little sick of it too.

  1. My middle name, Scott, was my grandmother’s (on my mother’s side) maiden name.
  2. My favourite movie when I was young was the Matrix. Then, I grew up and got this thing called ’standards’.
  3. I used to sing pretty well before my voice broke, and once sung with my choir at the Assembly Halls in Edinburgh.
  4. I only joined the choir to get out of French classes during primary school.
  5. My left leg is very slightly shorter than my right, and I’ve been told that it causes me to have to compensate when walking.
  6. I still own and drink out of a Hulk Hogan 1 litre plastic decanter I got when I first went to the US when I was 8.
  7. I own three suits (and never wear them).
  8. I drink more than anyone I know. So much so, that I usually drink a litre of water in about 10 seconds and get thirsty half an hour after. Thankfully though, I don’t drink 24 litres of water a day… but more like 7-8.
  9. Caffeine has no noticeable effect on me unless I’m playing video games.
  10. I usually spend more than an hour on the phone with Corinne each night.
  11. I have an acute case of social anxiety disorder but I’m pretty good at hiding it at the times it matters most (like interviews and such things).
  12. My favourite shows growing up where, without a doubt, was Star Trek: The Next Generation and Stargate SG-1.
  13. I could operate the VCR better than my dad when I was 2.
  14. I’ve spent more time procrastinating and looking up systems for ‘Getting Things Done’ than actually spent working most days.
  15. I stopped art because my high school art teacher didn’t like me and told me I wasn’t up to scratch. This was completely against what my College teacher told me, who wondered why I’d even think not going to art college. [Remind me to share some of those pictures sometime.]
  16. I’m a coffee fanatic and slowly but surely I’m becoming a snob in it.
  17. I have a gigantic pair of New Rock boots that I hardly wear. I got them in a moment of depression so I could make a statement, but also because since I was 15 I’d always wanted a pair and could never afford them.
  18. I’m more passionate about web design and development than I look, and I’m always looking out for the next interesting development despite the fact I’m still in university.
  19. I’ve eaten a snail at a French restaurant. I didn’t like it.
  20. Everyone who hasn’t met me pronounces my last name wrong (McCreath).
  21. I’ve tried, and failed, at podcasting three times. I can never get past the 12th episode. But yet, I can’t stop trying.
  22. I am no good at small talk.
  23. I’m left handed, but my right hand is the stronger of the two.
  24. When I was a kid I was fascinated with the paranormal and the idea of aliens.
  25. Talking of paranormal, the last time I was skiing I was fine for over an hour until suddenly I was scared out of my mind and relaxed in a local cafe. 10 minutes later my sister tore a ligament and had to be air-lifted to hospital. Coincidence? (p.s. I ski fine now)

Take these as they are. I hope you enjoyed that little insight into my head and to save you all, I’m not going to tag anyone, but feel free to do it yourself if you want. Darn, everyone else is doing it!

See you on Wednesday!
